ReALity (Resistance, Adaptation & Longevity)

ReALity is a network that brings together researchers from different faculties of Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU) Mainz to understand the mechanisms underlying resilience and adaptability and to promote healthy ageing. The Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB) and University Medical Center Mainz (UMC) are also key members in this joint Life Sciences initiative.

As part of this initiative, JGU established the Institute of Quantitative Biosciences as an umbrella structure integrating members of different faculties with a focus on analysing and interpreting data and developing theoretical models with relevance to ageing and longevity.

ReALity is coordinated by Prof. Peter Baumann, who is a Scientific Director at the CHA, together with Prof. Wolfram Ruf (Scientific Director of the Center for Thrombosis and Hemostasis), Prof. Tobias Bopp (Director of the Institute of Immunology) and Prof. Susann Schweiger (Director of the Institute of Human Genetics).

ReALity is funded by the State of Rhineland Palatinate from 2019 - 2024. For more information, please visit https://reality.uni-mainz.de.
