Leibniz Research Alliance Resilient Ageing

The central goal of the Leibniz Research Alliance (LRA) is to combine the state-of-the-art concepts of resilience and ageing into one coherent concept of “Resilient Ageing”. By doing this, we can obtain a better understanding of the mechanisms of healthy ageing and develop more effective ways to promote it.

The network brings together experts from 14 Leibniz Institutes as well as one associated Leibniz Institute and relies on the highly interdisciplinary expertise and methods available within the research alliance. Combining biological, medical, social and economic aspects, the LRA Resilient Ageing systematically analyses intrinsic (e.g. molecular, genetic) and extrinsic factors (e.g. life style, diet, environmental aspects) that promote resilience during ageing. Ultimately, identifying predictors for resilient ageing will help us develop advice and interventions that make the lives of the elderly as healthy as possible.

The LRA Resilient Ageing is one of five research alliances funded by the Leibniz Association since 2022.
