The Gutenberg Health Study

The Gutenberg Health Study (GHS) is an ongoing large-scale prospective, observational study to regularly monitor the general health of more than 15,000 individuals in the city of Mainz and the district of Mainz-Bingen. The aim is to assess the development and progression of chronic immuno-metabolic diseases and their effects on the vascular system and the brain at the molecular and (sub)clinical level.

The GHS provides scientists with large population-based datasets on the development of disease, as well as valuable samples to study. By collaborating with the GHS, scientists in the CHA can uncover the earliest symptoms and causes of multiple age-related diseases. Analysis of the GHS cohort is a key asset for ageing research.
